TEACH US TO PRAY
We learn by example. When the disciples of Jesus came to him and said, “Teach us to pray,” he taught them the Lord’s Prayer, a model prayer. The Psalms are the prayers of the people of God, collected and preserved over the centuries to give us the language, posture, and content of prayer. These 150 model prayers not only teach us how to pray, they also promise to transform those who pray them.
The resources on this site were created and compiled from over 15 years of teaching a college course in the Psalms and from a lifetime of praying and singing them. May the material here enrich your praying, inform your believing, and shape your living.
The Psalter is divided into Five Books of Psalms and that arrangement is reflected on this site. Furthermore, I’ve associated a key word and central image for each psalm to help with recall.
